Hello, Bright Vibe Hub team! Your favorite nurse, wife, mom, and life’s crap-avoiding queen is back at it. You guys loved the real talk about burnout in my previous post. Today, we’re discussing self-care that will not make you roll your eyes. No “journal your feelings” or lavender-scented-ness—just five real hacks on how to keep your vibe bright when you’re a spilled coffee or patient meltdown away from losing your mind.
1. The 60-Second Rage Dance.
Shitty shift? Painted the dog with yogurt? Turn it up all the way (Megan Thee Stallion or some classic Rage Against the Machine gets the job done) and flail for sixty seconds. Scream, jump, wail like you don’t care if someone sees you. It’s stupid; it’s therapeutic and cheaper than therapy.
2. Snack Like a Savage.
Release the “eat clean” guilt. Stash a hidden snack—Reese’s minis, the spicy chips your kids will pilfer—and sneak it into your private bathroom sanctuary. It’s not a snack; it’s a small act of rebellion in the middle of chaos.
3. The “Nope” Note.
Life requiring piling on? Grab a sticky note and scribble “NOPE” in big block letters and place it someplace you will see it—fridge, mirror, your kid’s forehead (just kidding. kind of). It’s your note to refuse something Today: overtime, toxic chat, whatever. You are not here to make everyone happy.
4. Scroll for Sanity.
Social media will suck the life out of you, so utilize it for you. Instead, follow the meme or nurse humor accounts and unfollow the “perfect” influencers. You should laugh for five minutes rather than feel bad for five minutes.
5. The Five-Minute Face Mask
Not the day spa type—grab the one you can afford at the pharmacy, slap that thing on, and zone out for a glorious five minutes while the kids pound on the door. It’s not so much about the radiant complexion and more about screaming, “I’m worth five damn minutes.” Bonus: you look like a monster from the depths of hell, and that’s peak sass.
I’m a mom who’s cleaned up every body fluid, a wife who’s battled tiny tyrants, and a nurse who’s received one too many buzzy beeper calls.
